How will you benefit from making a gift

Jane and Cyrus Farrehi

The profound pleasure, the deep sense of accomplishment that derives from making a difference in the world, a difference that truly changes lives now and far into the future, is the fundamental reason that people make gifts to the University of Michigan Health System.

There are other reasons as well: a gift to establish a named endowment or to fund a room or an entire building offers the opportunity to have your name or the name of another family member, friend, teacher or mentor associated in perpetuity with the University of Michigan Health System.

In addition, the strong American culture of philanthropy has influenced the writing of the U.S. tax code over the years in such a way that certain tax benefits accrue to those who make gifts to charitable institutions. A number of vehicles, such as charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities and lead trusts offer tax benefits and provide income during the lifetime of the benefactor and spouse or others.
