Alumni Volunteer Opportunities

1) Class Council — Participate as a class representative to the council to establish and maintain communication and interaction with classmates.

  • Help plan and encourage participation in class reunions.
  • Act as liaison to the Alumni Relations Office for your class information to be included in the bi-monthly MPulse e-newsletter.

2) Event Host/Sponsor/Participant — Become actively involved in regional events, from outreach programs to small private dinners. If you are in the Ann Arbor area, host a dinner for two or three students or residents to discuss your medical experiences and discoveries at the University of Michigan and beyond.

3) ENCORE Program — Become a mentor to students outside of the Ann Arbor area by allowing them to shadow you for a specified period of time, integrating them in a clinical setting.

4) Welcoming Ambassadors — Show residents the vast offerings of your area by giving a city tour or meeting them at one of the town’s hot spots for lunch.

  • Ann Arbor area — Available for M.D.s from other schools beginning residencies at the U-M.
  • Outside Ann Arbor — Available for U-M Medical School graduates beginning residencies in your area.

5) MCAS Board Member — Take a leadership role on the MCAS board and help shape programs and policies that serve alumni and the U-M Medical School. A call for nominations will go out at the end of the year, and you can nominate yourself if you’re interested in joining the board.

6) Host Program — Offer M4s and residents the opportunity to stay in your home while they interview for residency and fellowship opportunities in your geographic area by joining the HOST Program.
