Currently 40 percent of the students in the U-M Medical School receive some degree of financial support for their four years of training to become MD’s. Still, medical students at Michigan are leaving with an average debt of $100,000 upon graduation. A goal of the Campaign for The Michigan Difference is to provide every student in the U-M Medical School in need of financial aid with some scholarship support. A goal of $50 million in new scholarship support: $30 million endowment and $20 million expendable, has been set.
