A New Academic Year Brings a New (and Larger) Class
The U-M Medical School interviewed 810 of the 4,931 applicants for this year’s
entering class, ultimately admitting 177 students. Class size is up from the
170 students admitted each of the last four years, consistent with the national
increase in medical school enrollment reported by the Association of American
Medical Colleges in October. The Class of 2009 has an average 3.72 GPA and 11.44
MCAT score, and has performed a combined 142,883 hours of community service.
With an average age of 23.6 years, the group — 51.4 percent male and 48.6
percent female — also reflects the following characteristics:
