HOST Program: Final Call for Volunteers for 2007
We would once again like to encourage you to participate in our HOST (Help Our Students Travel) Program that matches students with alumni volunteers during the M4 residency interview process. By participating, you can provide one or more students with a place to stay, while at the same time sharing with them the value of your career experience. As a volunteer, you will also have an opportunity to renew your personal sense of pride in the U-M Medical School by getting to know one of our exceptional medical students.
We have updated and changed the HOST Program, so even if you have participated in the past, we encourage you to register again. This year, we particularly need hosts in the Dallas, Orlando, Pittsburgh and Birmingham (Alabama) areas. If you wish to participate, please visit our HOST Registration page online, or contact HOST Program Manager Theresa Finney Dumais by phone at (734) 998-7584, or by e-mail at: dumaist@umich.edu

On October 20 and 21, more than 400 Medical School alumni and guests enjoyed an opportunity to meet old friends — and make new ones — during Reunion ’06. Sponsored by the U-M Office of Medical Development and Alumni Relations, and the Medical Center Alumni Society (MCAS), Reunion ’06 provided an enjoyable opportunity for those participating to reconnect and reminisce during dinners, campus tours and tailgate parties, as well as during the Michigan Wolverines’ victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes. To learn more about Reunion ’06, or to find out how to participate in next year’s reunion activities, visit our Reunion ’06 Wrap-Up.

MCAS Presents Distinguished Alumni and Student Awards
The University of Michigan Medical Center Alumni Society (MCAS) annually bestows awards on alumni/ae and students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their careers or in their studies. In conjunction with Reunion ’06, MCAS held its annual Awards Luncheon, during which Robert Z. Gussin (Ph.D. 1965) and Peter Ward (M.D. 1960, Residency 1963) received Distinguished Achievement Awards and Michael M.E. Johns (M.D. 1969, Residency 1975) received a Distinguished Service Award.
At a ceremony earlier this year, MCAS presented Scholarship Service Awards to students Bina Valsangkar (M2) and Jeffrey Huo (M3), and an Academic Achievement Award to Adam Possner (M4).
We are currently accepting nominations for next year’s MCAS Distinguished Awards. Visit us online for a complete list of all MCAS Award winners, as well as information about award criteria and nominations.

Scholarship Recognition Dinner Celebrates the "Power of Scholarship Support"
