New improvements, exciting activities, and a great time are being planned right now. Visit our Web site to check out a complete list of classmates who have registered to attend. Remember, if you are an emeritus alumnus/a (graduated class of 1955 or prior), you are invited back to celebrate every year regardless of your class year. The registration deadline is August 31, 2005, so check out our complete list of activities including dates, time and places, and register today! Please contact B. J. Bess at 734.998.6044 or bjbess@umich.edu with any reunion questions.
Note: Planning for next year’s reunion is already underway. If you are a graduate of a class ending in the number 1 or 6 and would like to volunteer to assist in the coordination of your class dinner, please contact Katie Loyd at 734.998.7703 or kjloyd@umich.edu.

The Michigan Difference Seminars 2006
Just a few short months ago, hundreds of Michigan alumni and supporters gathered in Florida for the Michigan Difference Seminars. The overwhelming response to these events has already led to the planning of next year’s Michigan Difference Seminars. Two additional seminar sites have been added for 2006 making a total of four days of educational seminars and socializing at four exciting seminar locations. The Coconut Grove and Sarasota events are hosted and presented by the U-M Health System, while Palm Beach and Naples are University-wide programs.
- Monday, February 27, 2006 – Coconut Grove/Miami, Florida
- Tuesday, February 28, 2006 – Palm Beach, Florida
- Wednesday, March 1, 2006 – Sarasota, Florida
- Thursday, March 2, 2006 – Naples, Florida
The Michigan Difference is built on an extraordinary foundation of scholarship, research, and service. These seminars are a great opportunity for you to visit with faculty who help to make Michigan the global academic leader we are today. Mark down the dates, and plan to join us for an unforgettable afternoon. Look for information in future issues of MPulse.
Experience the White Coat Ceremony without Leaving Home
There are two major all-class ceremonies that mark milestones in medical students’ time at the University of Michigan: the White Coat ceremony where they receive the clinicians’ coats that symbolize the beginning of their academic journeys, and graduation day when they are awarded their hard-earned doctor of medicine degrees. For the benefit of family and friends unable to attend these events – or those simply wanting to experience them again -- we’ll soon be bringing them to you via video on the MCAS Web site. Look for the first one --- this year’s August 7 White Coat ceremony – in mid-August.
Volunteer Medical Mission to Belize
Members of the Student Alliance for Global REACH, working to increase international focus within the Medical School, are coordinating a volunteer medical mission to Belize comprised of 12 U-M Medical School alumni. The mission, organized through Peacework Medical Projects, a non-profit international volunteer program, will take place February 18-24, 2006, and will provide primary care volunteer health care in both urban and rural sites. Interested alumni may contact second-year medical student Jae Lee at leejae@umich.edu for additional information. You can learn more about the Medical Schools Global REACH program in the current issue of Medicine at Michigan.
Ways of Giving: Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds
Outright gifts are the most common and frequently made gifts to the University of Michigan, but did you know that there can be more to an outright gift than just writing a check? Stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares that have increased in value over time can be an excellent means of benefiting an institution about which you care deeply. By making such a gift, you gain an income tax deduction based on the current value of the appreciated securities and you avoid capital gains taxes. If you are interested in making an outright gift of this kind or of any kind, please contact the Office of Medical Development and Alumni Relations at 734-998-6044, and we would be happy to discuss this possibility with you and provide you with the information you and your financial advisor would need to make such a gift.
