Alumni Ambassadors Deliver Good News!
Getting the news that you’ve received a scholarship of any size is a happy occasion for our medical students. But hearing that you’ve been selected to receive one of the dean’s 4-year, full-tuition scholarships is especially thrilling. This year Robert Ruiz, director of admissions in the Medical School, had a great idea: Why not have Michigan medical alumni all over the country deliver the good news to these most sought-after students that they have been chosen to receive a full scholarship to study medicine at Michigan?
So far, five Michigan medical alumni have enjoyed the privilege of delivering the good news.
Comments from some of the ambassadors include:
“Thank you for offering me such an enjoyable experience. I felt like a Fairy- Godmother!”
“She was visibly overwhelmed by the Dean’s letter. I think there is a strong likelihood she will come to Ann Arbor.”
“Watching her reaction as she read the scholarship proposal was a real treat. I was reminded of the role played by John Beresford Tipton some forty-odd years ago on the original TV series ‘The Millionaire.”
And, from one of the students:
“I can tell that Michigan attracts high-quality, but also very thoughtful and caring people, and that is just one reason why I know I will be very happy to be a medical student at Michigan.”
